Somewhere,
Always Us
For whatever version of us finds this years from now: maybe we're still together, maybe life has carried us somewhere neither of us could have imagined.
But please remember this.
What we had was real.
You were one of the places in this enormous world where I felt completely at home.
And if the years have changed us, I hope they never make these memories feel small.
Because somewhere in the middle of all those ordinary days, we were young, we were here, and we had each other.
Somewhere, always us.
The ridiculous videos. The tiny clips. The laughing. The completely unimportant moments that somehow became the most important ones.
These are the things I never want time to erase.

For the Children Who Came After Us
There are people you meet in life who eventually become part of the family you choose.
Before you were born, there were two girls who were building a friendship without knowing that someday their children might inherit it.
We hope that somewhere along the way, you find each other too.
And we hope you always know that you have another home waiting for you in each other's lives.
There is one thing I want you to know, long before you ever need to know it.
If one day the world becomes too large, and I am no longer here to tell you where to go, remember this:
Run to her.
Even if you don't remember her from my stories. Even if years have passed. Even if life carried us in different directions.
Run to her.
After me, she is the person I would trust with your heart.
She is your Khalajaan.
And if you ever find yourself standing at the edge of something you don't know how to survive, and you wish you could find your way back to me, find her instead.
If you need someone to listen, go to her.
If you need somewhere to cry, go to her.
If you are happy and have nowhere else to put all that happiness, go to her.
If you miss me, go to her.
Even if you have never heard me speak about her.
Run to her.
Some people become part of the inheritance of your heart.
She is one of those people.
And if there ever comes a day when I cannot walk through the door for you, I hope hers is one of the doors you know you can knock on without fear.
Take care of your Khalajaan.
Let your Khalajaan take care of you.
And whenever you need a home that remembers me, go to her.
Always.
Somewhere, always us.
